50th Anniversary of the Croatian Meteorological Society

On 11th May 2015 Croatian Meteorological Society celebrated its 50th anniversary.

At the beginning of the gathering, the president of Croatian Meteorological Society Mr. Alen Sajko, held short welcoming speech. Congratulations and good wishes for the future work of the Society came from: President of the Hungarian meteorological society Mr. Zoltan Dunkel, deputy director of the Meteorological and Hydrological Service of Croatia Mr. Krešo Pandžić, deputy head of Department of Geophysics, Faculty of Science in Zagreb Ms. Zvjezdana Klaić, director of the Technical Museum Ms. Markita Franučić and secretary of Philatelic academia Mr. Božidar Husinec. Writing greetings came from Mr. Željko Majstorović, Association of meteorologists BiH, Sarajevo. 

At the proposal of the Managing Board of the Society, individuals and organizations received honors. Honors for lifetime achievement received Josip Juras and Čedo Branković.

Honors for significant contribution to the development and operation of Society received the following individuals: Višnjica Vučetić, Kornelija Špoler Čanić, Dubravka Rasol, Alica Bajić, Janja Milković, Vesna Đuričić, Davor Nikolić, Katarina Kenda and Ivan Ljuština.

Honors for significant contribution to the development and operation of Society received the following organizations: Meteorological and Hydrological Service of Croatia, Department of Geophysics, Faculty of Science in Zagreb and Technical Museum in Zagreb.

Honors for young meteorologists on this occasion received Petra Mikuš Jurković and Željko Večenaj.

To mark the 40th anniversary of the Society, in 2005, Višnja Vučetić prepared the publication 40 years of the Croatian Meteorological Society, which then couldn't be issued, but it existed only in electronic form. For the 50th anniversary, Amela Jeričević and Ksenija Cindrić Kalin, reworked publication and added activities of the Society in the past ten years. The plan is to translate Publication in English, and it should be completed and presented at Challenges in Meteorology 4 - Scientific-professional conference with international participation – in November this year.
